Oman

Middle Eastern Coastal Haven

Oman's history dates back to some of the region's earliest settlements over five thousand years ago, giving it a colourful past which influences the current way of life. The country is enriched by Oman's Grand Canyon with its mountain villages, fruit orchards and terrace farming.

Spend time on the water watching dolphins and whales, visit some of the ancient forts guarding the coast, or venture out to the Nizwa desert to see the 17th century Nizwa Fort. Salalah offers a lush retreat contrasting the red and honey coloured dunes of the desert with its picturesque mountains and waterfalls. Spend time exploring the capital, Muscat, with its Grand Mosque, traditional fish market and its splendid palace flanked by 16th century Portuguese forts. The glorious beaches host spectacular hotels where you can laze on golden sands, sample amazing cuisine or be pampered at tranquil spas. The Muscat Festival takes place in January and celebrates the arts and culture of the country.
