Its design includes wonderful glasswork and tiles. Visit the Topkapi Palace, which was home to the Ottoman sultans for nearly 400 years and take a tour around the mysterious harem, where wives and concubines lived.

Absorb the atmosphere of the Hippodrome, where gallant chariot racers won and lost, and see the Obelisk of Tutmosis, which was brought to Constantinople by Emperor Theodosius in 390 AD. Follow this with an indulgent 'Hammam' - a traditional Turkish bath that prescribes to the Islamic precept of cleanliness.
