Polis
Citrus Groves and Sun-Kissed Sands
The weather in Polis is sublime, as are the long stretches of unspoilt beach. The town, then known as Marion, was founded in the 10th century by the Athenians. The town itself has become a tourist-friendly centre whilst the surrounding area concerns itself with the growing of tobacco, carob trees, olives, almonds and citrus trees.
Rise early to stroll past trees heavy with lemons down to the sea. Rest in the shade on the golden sand or splash about in the warm, azure water. On your way back, stop at one of the shops for coffee and a sweet pastry. Learn about the excavations taking place in Polis and explore the Archaeological Museum in the town. Improve your handicap at the Tsada Golf Course or hike around the conservation area at Akamas Peninsular.
Take a drive to Yialia, a picturesque village with the ruins of an old church on the hills or head west to the fishing village of Latchi to dine on the catch of the day.
