Limassol

A Treasure by the Sea

Limassol is located on Akrotiri Bay in the southern parts of Cyprus and is the island's second largest city. With its many museums and archaeological sites, its delightful promenade and its welcoming people, Limassol is understandably a holiday favourite.

To get an understanding of the local culture and history, visit the Archaeological Museum and the Folk Art Museum. Hire a car and venture slightly out of town to 13th century Kolossi Castle, where it towers over countryside filled with vineyards. Absorb the sounds of a classical concert in the amphitheatre at the Temple of Kourion, west of Limassol. For a lovely day trip, head to nearby Nicosia, the 1,000 year old capital city with its monuments and historical interests.

Spend some time meandering through the narrow streets of old Limassol to find handicrafts such as lace and silver or browse through the elegant shops on Makarios Avenue for designer goods. When you have built up a sufficient appetite, settle into a colonial dining room at Aliada Restaurant for a delicious Cypriot meal.

dnata Holidays will assist you with your travel arrangements to Cyprus.
