Cyprus

Mediterranean Island with Middle Eastern Flavour

The beautiful coastline, quite unspoilt in parts, is worth exploring and many archaeological sites are scattered around the island, dating from the Stone Age to the Roman Empire. Impressive mountains loom over quaint villages and a varied landscape dotted with vineyards makes Cyprus dramatically striking.

Nicosia, the capital city, retains an authentically Cypriot air. Fantastic cafes within the old walls invite you in for a local coffee as you stroll around and see the woodwork shops within the city. Take a walk down to the Green Line, the boundary that now divides North from South. Venture out by boat off the coast at Paphos or snorkel and meet some of the country's sea creatures. Visit the medieval castle in Limassol's old town or stroll along the seafront catching the sea breeze as the sun goes down. Settle into a restaurant with a view and order a meze, the best of local cuisine. Prepare yourself for the vibrancy of the Limassol Carnival each in February/March.
