Pangkor
Perfectly Traditional. Exquisitely Beautiful
Pangkor's main industry is fishing, as seen in the many fishing villages that line its shores. Lush, jungle vegetation creates a dramatic backdrop for the white beaches and charming little houses built against the hillside or on stilts above the water.
Spend peaceful hours on isolated beaches such as Pantai Pasir Bogak or the beautiful Nipah Beach. Enjoy the secluded sandy bays and the natural wilderness that surrounds them. Snorkel the shallow blue waters to see the abundance of colourful fish. Visit the Foo-Lin Kong Temple on the east coast with its miniature Great Wall of China and Chinese Zodiac signs on the roof or the large Indian temple, Kali Amman.
Go to see the remnants of the Dutch fort dating back to 1670 and the nearby Tiger Rock, in honour of a small boy who disappeared in 1743. Explore the souvenir shops and little restaurants at Pangkor Town, where freshly prepared local seafood is served.
